Time Lapse
During the project a time lapse was made to track progress. The time lapse takes place during activity log 1. Enjoy!
Activity Log 1
Their day began at 4:30pm when they arrived at the murals, and began to unload their materials. Ella, Mallory, and Kelsey decided that it would be a one day project, but it would take a lot of time. (To help record their progress they started a time lapse video that will be posted later.) Kelsey and Ella started to clean the white backgrounds of the murals "Hug a Tree" and "The World is in Our Hands". Mallory, meanwhile, wiped down the ruined mural and started to paint it white, all of it except the "polluting gun" in the picture. These jobs took them until 6pm. When Kelsey and Ella finished the backgrounds, the banners were sketched lightly in pencil ready for paint. Mallory finished the "polluting gun" with the small city on top of it, and started the sketch of Mother Nature. The time was now 6:45 and the sun was going down quickly.

Activity Log 3
It was 9:30am and tutorial had just started, Natalia went to the location of the murals with a scrub and some soap. Her job: to clean the frames of the murals that were covered in paint. She worked until 10am, the end of tutorial. The next day, Kelsey, Ella, Natalia, and Mallory started the blog, editing as they went. They wrote the activity logs, the budget statement, and the about page.
Budget Statement
Our project is already supplied with the needed supplies, therefore our budget is $0. Our group had paint brushes, paint, as well as other materials needed to complete the project. However, if our project did not have any of the needed supplies, the cost would be:
Items | Cost per 1 | Number of Items | Total Price |
Paint | $1.50 | 15 | $22.50 |
Paint brushes | $0.75 | 20 | $15 |
Paper plates | $0.40 | 10 | $4 |
Paper towels | $1.50 | 1 roll | $1.50 |
$39 |
About our Project
Our group decided to start the first ESLP project of the year with refurbishing some of the school murals. We wanted something that many people would notice, so what is better then fixing up some of the much loved art around the school? Our job: redo the banners at the top of two of the murals and redo an entire painting that was washed out over time.
Activity Log 2
At 6:50pm, Kelsey, Mallory, and Ella started the paint process. This was the hardest part of the project because they had to mix colors for Mother Nature and paint thin lines for the banners. Kelsey and Ella got to work painting the banners while Mallory finished the outline of Mother Nature, got the correct shade of brown for the tree body, and started painting. By 7:30pm Ella and Kelsey had finished the banners, words and all, and started to help Mallory with redoing the ruined mural. Ella started the background blues and the small details on the "polluting gun", Kelsey outlined the vine that was connected to Mother Nature, and Mallory detailed Mother Nature's facial features along with her hair/branches. The day turned into night and the daylight faded away. Ella, Kelsey, and Mallory brought out their flashlights to continue the painting and finish the final touches until 8:30pm.
